The more I live, the more I realize God is the only one with the answers. He really does have all the answers. And He really is everything we could ever need.
How do we stay connected to Him, every day, and grow closer to Him?
Prayer is a huge part of this.
Prayer doesn't mean something "religious" – saying the right words, kneeling the right way, feeling the right things. That's not what prayer is all about.
Prayer comes from the heart. Prayer is very simply talking to God, sharing our heart with Him, and listening as He shares back with us.
Prayer can also be just sitting still, quietly, in God's presence. Acknowledging He is here. Just being with Him. He loves that.
Prayer also can happen in our dreams, as God shows us His heart, and calls us to pray.
Prayer is also God sharing His heart with us for other people. He shows us His love for them, how He sees them, and we get the privilege of inviting God to surround those folks with His presence.
Prayer is what keeps us focused on God, connected to Him. Prayer is the foundation of everything we do, every day. Prayer invites God to work – His way, His plan, His vision, His love. Prayer strengthens families and communities; brings healing and hope; makes the kingdom of God visible in our daily lives; invites God to work in the life of someone who doesn't know Him; reminds us that God is always here, and He is for us.
Our prayers are more powerful than we realize. God moves in response to our prayers. He shows us what He wants to do, and we say, "Yes, God, please do that!" He responds to our prayer invitations. He moves mountains to help us and to work in our midst, in response to our prayers.
Prayers do more than change hearts and change the world (and those are pretty big things!). Prayers also make God and His kingdom more visible around us, every minute of every day. That is amazing.
God has given you the power of prayer.
Would you like prayer – talking to God, being with God, noticing Him, listening to Him, responding to Him – to be more a part of your daily life?
